RHPO 2017/18 Season
The Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra is celebrating our 10th anniversary. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with our audiences, while developing a very fine orchestra since 2008. The 2016/17 Season will feature a balance of new repertoire and answer requests from audience members to hear your favourites, recounting some of our special moments over the years. The 2017/18 Season celebrates the past and looks to the future, as we continue to explore our unique brand of entertainment that utilizes the magic of theatre to support each concert program of quality symphonic music, offering the best possible concert going experience.

Our gift of the 10th anniversary “diamond” is couched in concert of significant works that connect with the number “10,” selected repertoire performed on our first concert of our first season, and a few fan favourites, including “Rhapsody in Blue,” “The Moldau,” and Karl Jenkins’ “Diamond Music,” among an inspiring program of charming works that span the eras and globe. With a few surprises up our sleeve, this delightful concert will bring back memories of the special moments we have enjoyed with our audiences since the inception of the RHPO ten years ago.
Holiday Letters (Holiday Spectacular on the Hill)

The annual RHPO Holiday Spectacular has been a popular concert tradition over the past 10 years, celebrating the season with unique programs that entertain and delight our audience. “Holiday Letters” commemorates the seasonal practice of sharing significant events in our lives with friends and family we may or may not see throughout the year via the age-old tradition of writing letters. This program presents a unique array of music that reflects humorous and heart felt letters sent during the holiday season. “Holiday Letters” promises to warm the heart and provide plenty of opportunity for the audience to join the orchestra in song and celebration.

The RHPO has delighted audiences with our annual concert of popular music, including music from movies, musical theatre, and classic rock. By popular demand, this concert presents a fusion of favourite styles and pieces that span the interests of our audiences. With music by The Who, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Chuck Mangione, P.D.Q. Bach, Piazzolla, Michael Jackson, Queen, Bernstein, and a couple of “fan favourite” movie and musical theatre selections, “Pro-Fusion” has something for everyone, with a mélange of popular styles that are even more magical when played by a full orchestra.
Dressed In Love 2.0

Since it’s first performance in 2010, we have received countless requests to re-do “Dressed In Love,” the original one-woman show, written for renown soprano Leslie Fagan that depicts the road to success in life and music through the inspiration of a Diva’s best friends … a lot of dresses … lots and lots of dresses. “Dressed in Love 2.0” updates the story from the first production, presenting music from Leslie’s vast catalogue that includes opera, jazz, classical, and musical theatre, all with a perfect balance of poignancy, humour, and astonishingly beautiful vocal prowess.
RHPO Last Night at the Proms

The wildly popular annual Proms concert continues to delight audiences with a new docket of symphonic music every year. This year we celebrate the RHPO’s 10th season, with a program of fan favourites and new gems, to complement the standard “Proms” repertoire. Our enthusiastic audience will have plenty of opportunity to hear your faves, wave your flags, sing with the orchestra and choir, blow your horns, and celebrate Richmond Hill’s orchestra, as we bring an invigorating conclusion to the RHPO’s 10th season.
