Tangorium

Saturday, October 26, 2024 • 8:00 p.m.

The mystique of tango can only be experienced – not explained. Tangorium’s design as an immersive portrait of tango music and culture, as it encounters and collides with the world, making the experience even more complete.

Tangorium is a meeting place, in this case for the fusion of tangos with other musical genres, elegantly tied together with a ribbon of spoken word and evocative videography. The virtuosity of the globe-trotting musical duo Michael Bridge & Kornel Wolak with the heart of the RHPO will create a seductive multimedia journey of Tango-fusion. You’ll be captivated by Latin American rhythms as they lead you on an intimate exploration from the Milonga of Buenos Aires through the evolution of the Tango as an international language, featuring Piazzolla’s Nuevo Tango, to epic symphonic tangos that fuse classical music and modern genres such as cabaret, rock, and tango club.

Spring Awakenings

Saturday, April 19, 2025 • 8:00 p.m.

From the beginning of time, Mother Nature has elicited artistic, creative responses from humankind. Music is particularly well equipped to communicate the sounds of nature and the moods that nature evokes, which can run the full gamut of human experience. Spring Awakenings celebrates a variety of musical responses to nature. Some are pictorial, others atmospheric. They deal with oceans and rivers, forests and meadows, and imaginary and mythical spirits that are conjured by nature’s reverence. The journey takes us across our Mother Earth, but the message knows no geographical boundaries.
